PICTURE FROM LURAY CAVERNS.

So another earthquake strikes Louisa Co. nothing compared to the 5.8 that hit the summer before last. It's just the earth settling back down and it's likely to happen again too. To try and give you an idea of how all this works. One night a good friend of mine and I were in this room back in the mid 90's when a 2.3 earthquake hit Rileyville. My friend will tell You it sounded like a train rolling through the cavern. It wasn't that loud to me, but I did stop and shouted at my friend "What the f*#k did You do!?" He looked at me and said "I thought you did it". It rumbled through the cave over us and out of the room. Really kind of neat and we walked through to try to see what had happened. In another section of the cave is what is known as the bleeding rock because it has alot of iron in the water is what they tell You. Well I noticed the "blood" was hitting a few inches away from where it normally hits. The next day all our co workers were excited and asking "did You guys feel the earthquake last night?" My friend and I looked at each other and realized so that's what it was. Going back into the cave bleeding rock was dripping in it's usual place again. So the earth had settled back down so the earth rides shifts and rolls as earth movement happens. However going the other way from Rileyville the quake moved a piece of stone that pushed the building that was attached to the cave leaving a good size crack both in the cave and in the lobby. Cool huh? .
