I know it happens all the time but not long ago I ran into a deer near Morgan Ford bridge. Funny thing was we saw each other at about the same time so he slowed down just as I did. I ended up clipping him in the hind quarter and knocked him a little silly. I jumped out of my jeep as he was struggling to get up. He was pretty good size with a nice 6 or 8 point rack. As he turned to face me I could see the dazed look in his eyes and he was snorting shaking his head and licking his snout. I talked to him for a while and said dude stay out of the road. He continued to cough, snort and shake for awhile and I could see his senses were returning to him. Finally he got it together took a hard look at me and shot off to the yard on the side of the road and stood there for a second. I told him he was OK and just needed to stay off the road, one more cough and snort and he ran behind the house. It was kind of neat but this poor little one on the bus had to be freaked out.
Yeah another earthquake struck Louisa County this morning but it was only a 2.3 according to the US Geological Survey. The picture You see here is from the 5.8 that struck back in 2011. Some geologist say we can expect aftershocks to occur for a long time as the earth resettles. Yeah that 5.8 was pretty massive and it well take a long time for the earth to settle back down. Kind of neat how the earth shifts and rolls expands and contracts which I have seen up close and personal in some of the caves I have worked as we have talked about before. Nature is AWESOME! Just get out of her way cause she don't care.
Washington National's Bryce Harper kisses the wall at Dodger's Stadium for the second time in his young career. It busted up his chin and now he has 11 stitches in it. Earlier this year he smacked the wall while playing in Atlanta. Bryce what's up with that!? Manger Davey Johnson says it's a matter of experience once he does it enough he will learn not to do that anymore.
Slow down there Homer the National Transportation Safety Board says we all should lower our intake. It seems that over 100 counties around the world have cut their alcohol-related highway deaths in half by reducing the standard for blood alcohol levels. Instead of the current .08 limit, we they say, should drop it to .05 to help reduce our own fatalities. It did take more then 10 years for those other counties to actually see the reduction but it does make sense. I myself always stop at .07 with a healthy dose of STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING!!!
Sunday the strongest solar flare of the year went off fortunately it went off on the side away from the earth. Good thing too because if it came right at us it could disrupt power grids and communications systems. It does, however also produce some really colorful auroras. NASA says the direction it erupted could affect a couple spacecrafts that are out there including the space telescope. It's OK however they can put them in safe mode to protect the instruments. Soon the sun will turn to the point where scientist can have a look at it. Nice!...
