THE BEATLES legend Paul McCartney is rumored to be joinng the surviving members of NIRVANA onstage tonight (Wednesday, December 12) at a benefit concert in New York City for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

According to The Sun, McCartney will perform with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic at the 121212 event, which will also feature appearances by THE ROLLING STONES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, BON JOVI, GREEN DAY, KANYE WEST and THE WHO. The report claims McCartney called Grohl who asked him to come and "jam with some mates" and then found himself playing with Grohl on drums, Novoselic on bass and Pat Smear on guitar. The report then quotes McCartney as saying: "I didn't really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time?' And somebody whispered to me, 'That's NIRVANA. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."

RUSH, HEART, Donna Summer, Randy Newman, blues legend Albert King, and rappers PUBLIC ENEMY are the 2013 inductees to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea announced the inductees yesterday (December 11) at L.A.'s Nokia Theater, which is where where the induction ceremony will be held on April 18. A truncated version of the evening's events will air on HBO on May 18. Producer/arranger and L.A. music scene powerhouse Lou Adler along with Quincy Jones will receive the prestigious Ahmet Ertegun Award.


Geddy Lee told Rolling Stone that he's happy that the fans that have wanted the honor for RUSH have finally achieved their goal. "It's a terrific honor and we'll show up smiling. It made my mom happy, so that's worth it. . . It was a cause they championed. I'm very relieved for them and we share this honor with them, for sure."
