Winter TV Preview:
TV now splits what used to be one season into two "mini-seasons"! For the most part, I've decided I like it and I think that USA Network should get the credit for starting it when they debuted "Burn Notice" a few years ago as a "Summer" ONLY series. It was so big, that as the few episodes it shot were over.....we heard.."Burn Notice....all new episodes coming in Janaury" as producers scrambled to keep the hit show top of mind with views.
NOW, everyone's into the act and USA continues to treat ALL of it's shows that way and man do they have a ton:
Royal Pains
Necessary Roughness
Covert Affairs
Suits
All networks like the mini-season angle as it allows them to "bail" if a show doesn't seem to be connecting with an audience and we all know that GREAT shows have been lost because an impatient network doesn't allow it to settle in or worse, keeps moving it all over the place and in turn, seals its doom.
NBC is trying to create it's counter to Modern Family with "1600-PENN", short for Pennsylvania Ave. This Presidential comedy stars Bill Pullman.
Kevin Bacon returns to television in "The Following" on FOX. This serial killer series with all its supposed weirdness is intended to make us forget that we lost FRINGE which concludes a 4 year run.
"The Walking Dead" returns February 22nd on AMC with part 2 of season 3. All in all! You have plenty to watch this winter to stay warm. You'll laugh...you'll cry...etc.
